Sew Good

Wow, it's been a long while since I've posted on my blog.
Lots have been happening around my neck of the woods. I have finally been able to find some free time to list my new handmade sewn goods....zipper pouches! I'm so excited to finally list these because I think this project began last October, almost one year ago! Yikes! I love my new zipper pouches because each one is made out of special fabric that I've taken so much time out to decide which one I'd like to work with.....believe me when it comes to Japanese fabric one could spend a couple of days drooling over the possibilities.

Counting My Blessings

Each day I try to make time pick up the "Metro" section of the Washington Post to read. I'm always delighted to read about interesting articles relating to events around the Washington D.C. area. However, sometimes when the news is bleak and depressing I always remind myself that my life is perfect the way it is. Often times when I am frustrated trying to juggle my family life and trying to craft items to sell I think about those that are not as fortunate as me and I count my blessings. I've been blessed with healthy kids, a wonderful husband and the existence of Etsy to keep my creative juices flowing! Think about your blessings today and you'll feel that you've been blessed with so much!

Smoothie with a Twist

Having problems getting your child to eat veggies? I have almost given up trying to feed my child veggies...he detests them with a passion. Until...well a lightbulb hit and gave me a bright moment! I added raw carrots into a blender along with strawberries, blueberries and yogurt. Voila! He drank the smoothie without knowing a hint of veggie was even in his smoothie! hehehe. It also made a wonderful tasting smoothie popsicle. He thinks it's a treat!!

Finding Time

I never seem to have enough time. Many people think being a stay at home mom is just that...stay at home....umm...but I am actually working for 2 little BOSSY bosses. Here it is at 4am and I feel like blogging. The basement project is underway and the rest of the house is a huge mess...everywhere, literally. My New Year's resolution is to organize and to contain messes. It's easier said than done. My daughter is in this very highly mobile stage. I can't really blame her considering she's about to turn 18 months and the world is her oyster, ready to be explored and conquered. This week has been wonderful though. She's learned to mimic some moves on the Wii Fit. It's quite hilarious to watch her perform various yoga positions. This morning I taught her how to say "bang bang" because those are the noises that scare her in the basement with all of the hammering and pounding. I figured if she could say it she might feel better about the noise itself because now she could associate and tag the word to the noise. Oh my, did I just say "tag"? Too much ETSY for me.

Today I brought out the Play-doh for my kids to play. Both of my kids sat in the kitchen playing Play-doh for a good hour. It was an hour where I didn't have to chase the little one around or to tell the older one not to run her over. Relief..I think we might have to do it again tomorrow.

I've been busy tweaking away at pictures for new pendants to be listed in my shop. Photoshop is my new buddy!

My other goal in the next few months is to start a Flickr account to feature ALL of my handmade products..not just pendants but other goodies :) Stay tuned.
